It’s Time to Stand

Great signs and prophecies of awakening are occurring today, but God has told us in Ezra, Nehemiah, Daniel and II Chronicles 7:14 that first God’s people have to humble themselves, confess their sins (and those of their forebears) and repent before God releases His Awakening and heals our land.

The Landing at Cape Henry, April 1607
April 29, 1607

With this in mind, we gathered at the birthplace of America where the Jamestown colonists knelt in prayer on April 29, 1607, humbled ourselves, confessed our sins and petitioned God for mercy.

It’s time
for the
to act.

It is time for the church to repent, and reclaim our land for Christ and pray that His light would beam forth from America.

Join together to act. Come together to pray. Repent for the sins of our church. Cry out for revival. Believe for the greatest awakening our nation has ever known.

A Message from Frank Costenbader

Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we humbly come before You to confess our sins and those of our ancestors. Our forefathers dedicated America to You and committed themselves to evangelizing the inhabitants of the land and spreading the gospel around the world. We have not been faithful to that commitment. Instead of introducing Indians to Jesus and educating their children, promises with the Indians were made and broken as greed overcame faith.

Our forefathers enslaved Europeans to tobacco while its growing profits demanded more land and more workers. We took the land and eventually enslaved people to work it. We see evidence of this influence in our own lives as we chase after success and use people. Instead of bringing the love of Christ and the light of God’s word to others we, like our ancestors, have allowed the surrounding culture to influence us and dim that light.

Work in our hearts by Your Holy Spirit. Pour out Your grace on us that we may humble ourselves before You. Convict us of sin and lead us to repentance. Turn us away from the darkness that both entices and demoralizes us. Pour out Your grace on us to turn from our love of the world (“the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life,” I John 2:16). Free us from greed into Your service, Jesus. Draw us into Your presence; place a right spirit within us. Open our spiritual eyes that we may see how You are working today and glorify You. You said, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Let us see the signs of the kingdom just as You opened the eyes of Elisha’s servant to see the surrounding army of God.

Therefore in the presence of Almighty God and in the company of these witnesses in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on this day of April 30, 2016, we who sign below solemnly commit ourselves to the following declaration from this day forward:

By Your grace, we will daily focus on Your coming kingdom. We will once again make the Bible the measure of what is true and the guide to how we live. We will work to live in peace with other people, to meet needs as You make us aware of them, to express Your love to others and introduce people to You, Lord Jesus, as the Savior of the world. We will pray and work for revival in the church and for an awakening that will transform our culture.

Thank You for Your love and mercy that triumphs over the judgment which we deserve. Hear our cry. Heal our land.
